The Business Press: Banishment of idling diesel trucks will curb dirty air

In the fight for clean air in Southern California, local truckers will not sit idly by, thanks to new legislation.

 

Starting Jan. 1, diesel trucks operating in California face a five-minute idling limit.

 

Traditional lead acid-based batteries will now be challenged with the strain of powering the trucks' "hotel load", which consists of peripheral devices such as air conditioning and television.

 

The result will be premature power failure on traditional lead acid batteries.
